“Play with your friends and combine the classical Dodge-ball game with Figure Skating, chose your robot and blow each other up while dodging in incoming balls with a pirouette”

A local multiplayer, couch-party game where you play dodgeball in an ice rink.

Level Design

Each time a new match starts, the layout for the gym and ice rink changes. When I made these I aimed to make the game and flow of the flying balls more chaotic, enabling the player to use the angles of obstacles to make an impressive skill-shot.

There are three different layouts that spawns in objects that defines the current level, the three layouts are randomized once the game starts. The baskethoops outside of the layout are run by a seperate randomizer. This is becaue they are reacting on being hit by dropping the hoops but does not affect the image where the players can turn on eachother cased on the layout.

Each level is divided to urge the player to start with a new opponent at the start of the game. The obstacles can be moved if they are given a push or thrown at due to the slippery ice so it will only be for the very first start. This is for the intention of giving the “All vs. All” feeling and not always end up in a layout that guides you to the same player  at every start. However if one player might have more points in the previous game and be a target, the dividing makes one focus on your first opponent before turning towards them instead of giving everyone the opportunity to jump on them at the same time. It’s not impossible to go for that scenario but the layout may not be fully support it with open arms.

The players can face eachother vertically or diagonally, this can be prompted by the players depending on who is the one currently in lead or personal vendetta against your friends.

The common dodgeball where the bench indicates the two teams. So they face eachother horizontically.

In the first one is based on the common dodgeball, the players can read this in two ways. In one way, the players are faced to go against the one placed verictally opposite to you.

This layout does not split of the middle completely, nor does it invite the diagonal opposition like the previous layout. Due to the many obstacles, they are more boxed in together and can turn on anyone. It’s a free for all layout.
